Hood Picasso is the artist. Phil is the man.
IT STARTED WITH TWO DEATHS
“I lost my mom on Thanksgiving and my dad on Christmas.”
Six weeks apart. Two holidays.
Phil had been making clothes his whole life. There was no name on it and no reason behind it. Then there was.
“That alone showed me — okay, bet. I know for a fact that God wrote a story. Mom is lost on Thanksgiving, dad is lost on Christmas, now he has a gift. What is he going to do with it?”
“So I made the best of losing my parents.”
THAT IS WHAT THE BONES ARE
People see the skulls and read horror. It was never that.
“Dead skulls, all that type of thing — that’s the whole dark bone, this bone, that. Ain’t nothing but bones. Ain’t nothing but death.”
Every bone on every garment in this store is the same two people. That is why the brand is called DED.
THANK YOU JESUS
It is printed on almost everything we make. This is where it comes from.
Asked what he would say if he could visit his mother for one day:
“Thank you for leading me to Christ.”
He keeps a Bible with the pages highlighted end to end. Asked whether the highlighting meant he had read it: “All this highlighted means that I understand it.”
HOW IT IS MADE
Atlanta. Our own warehouse, our own press.
Phil does not pre-cut and he does not pre-draw. He draws with the sewing machine, live, on the garment — the bones, the patterns, all of it worked out while the needle is moving. The machine cost $200.
“I’m real big on nothing. A whole bunch of nothing — just make something.”
Every graphic is drawn by hand by Hood Picasso and screen printed by hand on our own press. One garment at a time. Most orders leave the building the same day they come in.

You get what you give. Phil reads it out of Proverbs and it is the closest thing this brand has to a rule.
